Handprinted vs Giclee Prints FYI

What is the difference between a handmade print and a Giclee print?

Handmade prints are created using a single matrix, such as a wood block, copper plate, or linoleum block. Each print made in this way is considered an original piece of artwork and is numbered according to the total prints in the edition. Due to the labor intensive process and limited nature, handmade prints tend to cost more.

GiclĂ©e prints are made by digitizing the artwork and professionally printing the work using archival ink and paper. These prints are high quality copies of the original and can be printed at will. Since the number of prints that can be created are unlimited, this allows the work to be sold for far less than the original.

Art is a part of being human and should be accessible to everyone. Selling work at multiple price points allows art work to be attainable for everyone, from starving artists to Elon Musk.
